Polonaise Dress c 1880

Two piece polonaise or tunic dress made of olive green rayon to be worn with or without a bustle. The long bodice is caught up in pleats to create the bustle effect and trimmed at the neck and sleeves with ivory lace, self fabric ruffles and silk ribbon with the hem trimmed in tassel fringe. It is worn over an underskirt trimmed at the bottom with self fabric gathers. The hat is an original from the 1880's.
